Crewe & District Local History Association represents several local organisations interested in the history of the area and in the conservation of artefacts such as photographs and documents, and the recording, and if possible, retention of buildings of local importance:
We hold meetings every six or eight weeks and raise funds to enable the publication of a local history newsletter which is issued three or four times a year. Due to the support of Cheshire East Council, there is a base for local and family history on the top floor of the Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, and the Family History Unit is open to give help and advice on Mondays and Tuesdays most weeks.
Now we have this safe place for storage, we welcome donations to our collections – the kind of items families often find in drawers and attics and which can give such an insight into the past. If you do have any photos or documents, please bring them to the Family History Room: they can be scanned if you wish to keep them, but they are available for research.
The Local History Newsletter can be picked up in Crewe Library. If however, you would like a copy sent to you then you can become a member for a subscription of £5 which pays for the cost of postage. You will also get an invitation to our Annual General meeting and talk which is usually held early June.
